WARRIOR ICON

This painting depicts the goddess “Kali” from Hinduism who is often associated with time and death. Kali is said to destroy evil to defend the innocent. Therefore in some traditions it’s recognised as a divine protector that bestows liberation. This Warrior Icon was painted at the start of the Russian aggression towards Ukraine and it represents the anger of the Ukrainian motherland as it is fighting to protect itself from the invader. It is also a reflection on the feelings that I felt during this time and the desire to see a free Ukraine.
